We built Velocity because publishers deserve a monetization layer for the AI era.
The founding team spent years inside publisher revenue operations and watched chat interfaces arrive without any revenue model. We knew the window to get this right was narrow.
How we got here.
Publishers built the web by producing content people trusted and sought out. The monetization layer that paid for that content, display advertising, was imperfect but it worked at scale. Then AI assistants started absorbing the traffic. A reader who would have clicked through to three articles to research a question now asks one prompt and reads one synthesized answer. The page views that funded journalism, documentation, and tutorials began to evaporate.
The three of us had spent the previous years building and operating publisher monetization systems. We knew the mechanics of how content earns, and we could see exactly what was being lost. What we could not find was a serious attempt to build a revenue model for the conversational format itself. Display ad networks assume page views. Search ad platforms assume keyword intent. Nobody had built for the conversation turn as the unit of value.
We incorporated Velocity in 2023 with one thesis: conversation context carries more purchase intent signal than any page URL ever did. Velocity is angel-backed and deliberately small. We move fast because the publishers who need this are watching their referral traffic decline in real time.
The team.
Spent years building publisher monetization systems for digital media platforms, running pipelines from audience intent data to advertiser revenue. Deep background in content-to-revenue mechanics led her to found Velocity when she saw AI chat arrive without a publisher revenue model.
Built low-latency ad serving infrastructure at multiple high-traffic platforms, with deep background in real-time bidding and stream processing. Designed the sub-50ms matching engine that makes Velocity viable inside streaming AI responses.
Designed publisher-facing products for content monetization across several independent media companies. Background in user trust systems and ethical ad integration shapes how Velocity is built: reader experience is a constraint, not a tradeoff.
What we believe.
Reader Trust First
Every design decision at Velocity starts from one question: would a reader feel deceived by this? We enforce a single placement per session by architecture, not policy. Every placement carries an unmissable label. Publisher controls are deep because we believe consent is structural, not cosmetic. If trust breaks, the product stops working, so protecting it is not a values statement but a business requirement.
Contextual Over Behavioral
The industry spent twenty years building targeting infrastructure on behavioral profiles and third-party tracking. We think that path is closing. Velocity targets based only on the conversation happening right now: what topic, what intent signal, what context. No user profiles. No cross-session tracking. No personally identifiable content stored or transmitted. The targeting is good enough without any of it.
Publisher Partnership
Velocity only works if publishers make money. We structured our revenue share to grow with publisher volume, not shrink. Our dashboard shows publishers exactly what Velocity earned them, every day, without requiring a support ticket. We think transparency about revenue mechanics is rare in adtech and that it should be the default. Publishers are our partners, not our supply.
